Mode 7 was founded in 2005 by Ian Hardingham and Paul Kilduff-Taylor.  Our debut title Determinance was released a year later.


This led to a period working for high-profile clients such as ITV and the BBC on realtime broadcast graphics.

In 2011, we released Frozen Synapse to widespread acclaim.  It received the IGF Audience Award, PC Gamer Strategy Game of the Year and the Develop Best New IP Award.

In 2017, Mode 7 became a publisher.  We've released titles such as The Colonists and Fights in Tight Spaces

We focus on games with heart, depth and a unique sense of style.

Publishing Submissions

If you would like to submit a game for publishing, here's some info on what we're looking for.

We love:

  • Strategy games (eg Frozen Synapse)

  • Simulation / builder games (eg The Colonists)

  • Games which can plausibly be played for > 40 hours

  • Distinctive art styles

We don't publish:

  • Mobile-only titles

  • Games which make no meaningful new contribution to their genre

Please include the following with your submission:

  • A budget and development schedule

  • A video showing gameplay

  • Something to give an indication of final art (vertical slice, mock-up etc)

  • Ideally, a prototype
